License file locations

License file locations

To enable Cresset applications you will require a valid license file - please enquire. This file should be placed in one of the locations listed below.

Windows

Save the license file to one of these locations:

Location Windows 10 and 11
Home directory C:\Users\<username>
Documents directory C:\Users\<username>\Documents
Cresset licenses directory – global installation C:\Program Files\Cresset-BMD\Licenses
Cresset licenses directory – user installation C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Cresset-BMD\Licenses
Custom directory Save the license file to any directory. Start the application and click the 'Change extra directory' button. Now browse for your chosen directory.
Environment variable cressetbmd_LICENSE can be used to specify the location of Cresset license files.

If you are having problems getting the license to be auto-recognized please contact Cresset support. If you require a license file please register here or contact us.

Linux

Save the license file to one of these locations:

Location Installed from RPM Installed from tar. xz or tgz
Home directory $HOME $HOME
Documents directory $HOME/Documents $HOME/Documents
Cresset licenses directory – global installation /opt/cresset/licenses /path/to/installation/directory/cresset/licenses
Custom directory Save the license file to any directory. Start the application and click the 'Change extra directory' button. Now browse for your chosen directory. N/A
Environment variable cressetbmd_LICENSE can be used to specify the location of Cresset license files. N/A

macOS

Save the license file to one of these locations:

Cresset licenses directory – local installation $HOME/Library/Application Support/Cresset/Licenses
Custom directory Save the license file to any directory. Start the application and click the 'Change extra directory' button. Now browse for your chosen directory.
